The Center for Development and Quality Assurance at the university organized this morning, Saturday, February 12, 2022 AD, under the auspices of Prof. Najib Al-Kumaim, President of the University, a productive workshop to discuss and approve the system for evaluating the performance of faculty members and their assistants, in the context of the general project to improve and develop various aspects of performance at the university, with the participation of deans of faculties and heads of departments Academic staff, a number of faculty members and their assistants at the university, a number of directors of departments, departments, and related administrative and technical units, the Secretary-General of the University Student Forum, and a number of students from various specializations of the university. At the opening of the workshop, the President of the University, Dr. Najeeb Al-Kumaim, welcomed the participants, stressing the importance of holding the workshop, which comes as a practical translation for the continued implementation of the university’s strategic plan in the axis of self-assessment, with the support and follow-up of the University’s Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Council, Professor Sultan bin Obaid Al-Shaya, who attaches importance to the development and modernization aspect of the university. Great for improving the educational process in a way that contributes to the graduation of highly qualified cadres to supply the local and regional labor market with qualitative outputs that serve development and society, praising the efforts made by the work team at the Center for Development and Quality Assurance to build a system for evaluating the performance of faculty members, leading to the implementation of the workshop. The president of the university indicated that the university has made great strides in improving the educational process and accomplishing the task of self-evaluation in an effort to provide the requirements for program accreditation “international accreditation”, and in this context comes the holding of this important workshop to complete the most important projects, which is the performance evaluation system for faculty members and their assistants, as a member of the faculty. Teaching is the most important element in the educational process as it is a real interface and lever for any university, noting that the evaluation system will be the gateway to installing more university faculty members based on the evaluation results that represent the outputs of the system. For his part, the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at the university, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, indicated that the system aims to evaluate and follow-up the performance of faculty members and their assistants with the aim of enhancing and improving the educational process by identifying the shortcomings and strengths in the performance of the academic staff to continuously improve and develop their performance, and assessing performance The distinguished and investing it, and contributing to creating positive attitudes among faculty members and their assistants towards the quality of education to achieve the principle of excellence and modernity in implementation of the university’s mission. Dr. Melfi Al-Qamsh, Head of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the University's Center for Development and Quality Assurance, reviewed, in the first session, the axis of spreading the culture of quality in the field of measurement and evaluation as a general introduction to the evaluation system. In the second session, the general framework and dimensions of the performance evaluation system for faculty members and their assistants were reviewed, and in the third session, the methodology of building the system was reviewed. After that, the participants in the workshop were divided into focus work groups to respond to the evaluation form of the axes, components and measures of the system to enrich all the contents of the system through Evaluation, observations and suggestions of the participants in the workshop to be absorbed and to produce the system in its final form. The workshop came out with recommendations, including: approving the system for evaluating the performance of faculty members and their assistants after absorbing the observations, completing the procedures for approving the system by the relevant higher councils of the university, the commitment of all sectors, academic and technical units, and university employees to integration, cooperation and interaction in the application of the system, and the active contribution to the implementation and success of the evaluation process Continuous evaluation of performance. At the end of the workshop, participation certificates were distributed to the participants.
