Today, Monday, the Emirates International University in Sana’a celebrated the World Book Day, which falls on April 23 of each year, by organizing a book fair on the university’s campus in cooperation with the Ibn Khaldun Library. The exhibition, which opened at nine in the morning and continued until three in the afternoon, witnessed a great turnout by male and female students and members of the academic and administrative bodies of the university. As one of the prestigious educational edifices concerned with building minds through the establishment of the exhibition, the university aims to enhance the status of printed books in light of the spread of e-books and enhance the status of libraries in the academic community in addition to enhancing the role and importance of reading and consolidating the culture of reading among male and female students in order to contribute effectively to preparing a generation reader. It is noteworthy that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) chose April 23, 1995, as World Book and Copyright Day, as an expression of the world's appreciation for writers and authors, by encouraging reading among everyone, especially among young people.
