Today, Thursday, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences inaugurated the Excellence Program for the Dental Department with a scientific week in which the most prominent specialists in Yemen will lecture. During the inauguration event of the program, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Shami, Head of the Dental Department at the university, praised the support and care given by the university’s leadership to its students, starting with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, His Excellency Professor Sultan Al-Shaya, the President of the University, Dr. Najib Al-Kamim, and the Secretary-General of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Baadani. Pointing out that the internship year is a supplementary year for the five academic years, considering the five academic years, both theoretical and practical. The head of the dental department considered that the university is proactive in applying the year of excellence for its graduates because of its importance related to the capabilities and level of the graduate, and because the excellence certificate has become one of the necessary requirements in the fields of scientific and practical life. Dr. Al-Shami noted that the program aims to develop and refine the graduate’s skills, enhance his self-confidence, strengthen his relationships with doctors and consultants in specialization, apply medical information through clinical training, and gain work experience and skills that help the doctor deal correctly with the patient by moving from the learning stage to the work stage. The first day of the scientific program accompanying the internship program witnessed the presentation of two scientific lectures to the internship students of the second batch. The first lecture given by Prof. Ibrahim Al-Shami was about the entrance to the year of excellence, while the second lecture was by Dr. Ammar Al-Murtadha, in which he spoke About Composite Fillings, Reasons and Methods for Avoiding Common Mistakes in Type II Aesthetic Fillings. During his lecture, Dr. Al-Murtada expressed his great happiness, "saying I was very happy when I saw the infrastructure, clinics, and a group of distinguished academics who are hosted by the college." Dr. Al-Murtada thanked the Dean of the College and the organizers of the Scientific Week by inviting him to participate and visit the College.
