In the interest of the UAE University leadership in giving its cadres priority in appointment and promotion, the President of the University, Dr. Najeeb Al-Kumaim, issued his decision No. 51 of 2020 AD appointing Dr. Hatem Al-Duais as Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology after his promotion from the head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department, in which Dr. Hatem worked during the previous two years. This step comes in appreciation of the distinguished role that Dr. Hatem contributed to during his presidency of the department, and in accordance with the directions of the university and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with appreciation and promotion of the university's distinguished staff. Biography of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the university Dr. Hatem Abdo Ali Al-Dais, born in Baadan District, Ibb Governorate, 1974 AD. Professor of mechatronics and auxiliary control systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering - Ibb University He holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology in Banaras - India IIT (BHU) in robotics systems 2013 AD, and obtained a master’s degree from the National Institute of Technology in Warangal - India NIT- Warangal in Computer Integrated Manufacturing in the year 2008 AD, and also obtained Bachelor's degree in Production Engineering from the University of Technology in Baghdad, with a government grant in 1997. Worked as Vice Dean of the College of Engineering at Ibb University for Development and Quality Assurance Affairs since 2016. He worked as a visiting assistant professor at Sana'a University and Taiz University and headed the development and characterization teams for the mechatronics program in most of the public and private universities that established this specialty. He combined his scientific experience in mechatronics, academic and development in quality, ensuring academic accreditation and preparing national standards to become one of the national experts in this field. He attended a trainer and participated in a large number of development, quality and academic accreditation workshops. He has published nine scientific papers in international conferences and eight in international refereed journals. His research interests address the development of robotics systems, smart mechatronics, machine vision and image processing for autonomous robots. He has a prominent role in the development of graduation projects at universities, Ibb, Sana'a and the Emirates International University. He has worked as Head of the Mechatronics Department at the Emirates International University since October 2018, in which the department’s performance has significantly developed within the development witnessed by the university in general, and the department’s students have won a number of awards at the national level. He worked for two consecutive seasons in the judging team of the National Competition for Innovative Entrepreneurs, which was adopted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and presented by the Yemeni satellite channel, which some considered the true nucleus of support for pioneers, innovators and distinguished people in a national institutional work that recently resulted in the establishment of the Higher Authority for Science, Technology and Innovation in March 2020.
