Under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, the Emirates International University - Sana'a, inaugurated a workshop for reviewing and developing medical programs according to the main references wfme - NARS. At the inauguration, His Excellency the Minister stressed in his speech the importance of the medical colleges’ involvement in quality programs, which would improve medical programs in line with national and international standards, and in a manner that achieves the interests of graduates and the needs of the labor market, pointing to the efforts of the Ministry and the Academic Accreditation Council in this field, where a preparation The standards document emanating from the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME) standards, as well as the preparation of the NARS National Academic Standards document. For his part, Prof. Najeeb Al-Kumaim, President of the University welcomed the Minister and all the attendees, conveying greetings and appreciation of the University’s Board of Trustees, represented by the Chairman of the Council, Professor Sultan bin Obaid Al-Shaya, to His Excellency the Minister and all the attendees and participants in the workshop, stressing that the University is proceeding in accordance with the plans and strategy of the University 2020-2025, based on its mission and vision To achieve quality and excellence in the description of medical programs and their academic curricula and based on established scientific and methodological foundations and standards, considering that the workshop was held within the framework of the university’s keenness to improve medical education in Yemen. The national expert, Dr. Noman Fayrouz, had reviewed the methodology of managing the file of review and development of medical programs at the university within the framework of the official references NARS and wfme, through two tracks (strategic link - and normative link) specifying the steps starting with the university strategy 2025 and then the college strategy and strategic directions for scientific departments and preparing documents Academic programs, including the human medicine program according to WFME standards, holding internal workshops, forming four teams that included specialists in each program separately, training teams on program descriptions, holding workshops to present the teams’ outputs and presenting them to external arbitrators, leading to holding this workshop to publicize program documents and present them to specialists for discussion He made observations and then moved to the next stage to describe and review course programs and study self-evaluation after fulfilling the conditions and then submitting to the Accreditation Council to obtain special accreditation. After the inauguration event, the work teams moved with the external arbitrators to discuss the standard audit matrix and the description document for the programs "human medicine, oral and dental medicine and surgery, clinical pharmacy and medical laboratories", and to discuss the scientific observations thereon. The workshop was attended by Dr. Hamdan Al-Shami, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Sadiq Al-Sharaji, Undersecretary for Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad Dhaifallah, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Al-Hawali, President of Amran University, Dr. Zakaria Al-Shuaibi, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Saleh Al-Dhaheri, Dean of the College Medicine and Health Sciences at the university, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi, Head of Programs Unit at the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at the university, deans of faculties and heads of departments, a number of faculty members and their assistants, directors of departments and departments related to the university, and the Secretary-General of the University Student Forum.
