The Civil Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the university discussed today, Sunday, the projects submitted by student groups, in the presence of the university president, Dr. Najib Al-Kumaim, the dean of the faculty of engineering and information technology, Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, the dean of the faculty of administrative and financial sciences, Dr. Muhammad Al-Kahali, and the university’s legal advisor, Dr. Fouad Al-Haj. The Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Ahmed Al-Wazaf, the Head of the Accounting and Financial and Banking Sciences Department, Dr. Fahmy Al-Daqaf, the Director of Academic Affairs, Professor Ibtisam Al-Majmar, and Dr. Suleiman Al-Safi. The project submitted by the third group of students of the department, entitled: "Twisted Tower Project", was discussed. Design of Multi-Story Reinforced Building with Inclined Columns. It is a twisted tower that is resistant to earthquakes and winds, in which the tilted columns were used in its four corners along the height of the tower so that the total angle of rotation of the structure was 45 degrees, which gave it a modern architectural character, and it consists of 15 floors with different heights and architectural function. The project included the study of twisted structures using the "Inclined Columns" system. The project was presented by the students: Tariq bin Ziyad Al-Ruwaishan, Mahmoud Muhammad Al-Sharji, Shehab Bakr Al-Abdali and Imad Abdo Al-Nahmi. It is supervised by Dr. Suleiman Ismail Al-Safi, and Engineer Ahmed Sheikh Al-Din. The project submitted by the fourth group, which is a commercial service tower consisting of 12 floors, resistant to earthquakes, was also discussed. Six floors were commercial malls and six floors were offices. It consists of three structural systems, an external system, the Diagrid system, and two internal systems. Vertical tire system and tube structural system. The project was presented by the students: Diaa Taher Sweileh, Munir Ahmed Saleh, Ismail Al-Sharjabi, Abdullah Al-Mashreqi and Hisham Al-Dais. It is supervised by Dr. Suleiman Al-Safi. The students of the third group had honored the President of the University, the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and the Supervising Professor, with memorial shields expressing the batch's pride in their professors, for the qualitative and distinguished education they received during their academic years at the university. The projects presented by the two groups were praised by the university president, the dean of the college, the department chair, the supervising professor, and the attendees during the discussion as distinguished projects, praising the efforts made by the students to present practical projects that can be applied on the ground.
