The dental clinics affiliated to the College of Dentistry at the Emirates International University continue to train their students and provide services to the members of the community free of charge, and to harness all possibilities for this. Where the free clinics designated for clinical training for students of the fourth and fifth levels and students of excellence work to receive patients from different groups of society who receive care within dental clinics. The therapeutic aspects include: various dental examinations, dental treatments, fillings, root treatments, and mobile orthodontics for children Fixed dentures (crowns and bridges) and removable dentures (partial and complete dentures), in addition to surgical treatments (dislocations, dentures, and minor operations inside the mouth). The President of the University, Dr. Najeeb Al-Kumaim, had spoken to inform the university about the university’s keenness to link theoretical education with applied education in accordance with the latest international standards and quality standards to produce generations of qualified scientifically qualified from the various faculties of the university, and it has all the necessary tools to enable graduates to join the labor market with merit and confidence. And that the university puts all its capabilities and resources to the sake of its students and the performance of its scientific mission, with the full support of the Board of Trustees and the Chairman of the Board, Professor Sultan bin Obaid Al-Shaya. With regard to dentistry, the president of the university indicated that the clinics of the College of Dentistry were allocated as free educational and treatment centers for members of the community - with some symbolic fees for some cases - from which both sides of the relationship, the student and the patient, benefit from two aspects: the first: the actual practice of the students on the cases, and the second: that patients receive treatment Complimentary. It is noteworthy that dental students, within the course of preventive pediatric dentistry at the fifth level, go to the primary schools with the professors, conduct preliminary examinations, and transfer them to dental clinics to perform the necessary treatments. For his part, student Omar Nasser Sakran from the internship students spoke to the university’s media that he started practical training in clinics in the fourth year, noting that after three years of training and following up on hundreds of patients and increasing his experience, he is able to work and diagnose cases, and that he does not find any problem in Follow up of patients and provide treatment to them. The student, Muhammad Al-Qasim, one of the students of the year of excellence, indicated that he joined the dental specialty because of his desire in this field, and that the choice of the university was based on the scientific reputation that the university enjoys among its peers, and the faculty’s focus on practical application and obligating the student to work in clinics on a daily basis. What gives the student practical experience that enables him to practice the profession while he is still studying. And the university’s media met with some sick cases present in the clinics, which considered allocating free clinics to treat members of society for free as an idea that pulsates with the love of giving to the simple people who do not have the price of treatment and a human experience that makes social solidarity with us visible and a tangible reality. Another patient talked about that he had been suffering from dental pain for a long time and was unable to see a dentist due to the high cost in the outpatient clinics, but when he heard about the free clinics at the university, he offered treatment in the free clinics for students who receive direct supervision and follow-up from faculty members and their assistants . It is worth noting that he supervises an academic staff specialized in all fields in the College of Dentistry related to the work of free clinics, so that the doctor follows up with the student every step of the treatment and ensures the safety of the practical application of the theoretical aspects that have been studied in the classrooms, as well as an assistant technical staff of teaching assistants And dental technicians, and all the tools used in clinics are sterilized according to the latest sterilization methods and the latest devices provided by the university, as well as following precautionary and preventive measures inside the clinics. The university’s dental clinics contain 70 chairs, in addition to various modern diagnostic methods through devices and equipment equipped for this purpose, in addition to benefiting from all the laboratories of the Faculty of Dentistry. Where the free clinics receive approximately 50 cases per day, at a rate of at least 900 cases per month, with a total number of more than 9,000 cases approximately since the clinics were opened during the previous years.
