The University's College of Engineering and Information Technology launched the intensive training program for students of the Civil Engineering Department at the Central Laboratory of the Ministry of Public Works. Under the supervision of the Department Head, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amiri, and Engineer Saddam Hussein.

The training program aims to qualify students to use the latest engineering devices and equipment, and train them to conduct various engineering tests and measurements, which contributes to raising the students’ efficiency and providing them with the necessary practical skills to qualify for the labor market.

The training program includes a set of lectures, practical applications, and conducting experiments in specialized laboratories within the laboratory, including: the materials and concrete laboratory. The experiments include: cement tests, fine and coarse aggregate tests, operational tests of concrete, iron resistance, concrete, and non-destructive tests of concrete.

Practical applications in the field of hydraulics and fluids also include conducting experiments in the mechanics of barriers and hydraulics. In the field of soil, they include tests to determine and classify the type of soil and tests of the mechanical properties of the soil. In roads, experiments include tests of asphalt. In water and the environment, practical training includes conducting drinking water tests and water tests. Sewage. And other practical experiences.

The implementation of the training program comes within the framework of the university’s keenness to improve and develop the educational and training process, through cooperation with government and private agencies in the field of training and qualification, in a way that contributes to developing students’ skills and abilities, to compete in the labor market with full merit and confidence.

The training program lasts for 14 weeks, and more than 80 students from the Civil Engineering Department in the second, third and fourth levels benefit from it.

The training of students is supervised by a number of engineers in the central laboratories, including the laboratory director, Eng. Fouad Al-Salawi, Director of Administration, Ali Al-Hilali, and Eng. Mukhtar Al-Bahlouli and m. Fawaz Al-Eryani and M. Yahya Basbas and m. Ayed Al-Shamiri and M. Saleh Al Nashmi.
