A scientific visit for students of the Department of Architecture, second level, to Dar Al-Hajar and a number of archaeological sites

 The Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the university organized a scientific visit for second-level students to Dar Al-Hajar and a number of archaeological sites, within the framework of the UAE University’s keenness to link the theoretical side with the practical side and to provide students with skills and knowledge through practical applications. Accompanied by Dr. Wael Al-Banna and the Administrative Coordinator of the College of Engineering, Professor Waseem Maasar.

 

 During the visit, the students learned about the architectural elements in the old Yemeni buildings (Dar Al-Hajar), the traditional design that is compatible with the surrounding natural environment, represented by the Dar Al-Hajar Palace building, as well as learning about the local building materials used in the various elements of the buildings in the old city, and the old construction methods used in Dar Al-Hajar and some buildings in Yemeni architecture since the beginning of the Islamic era.

 

 The Great Mosque in Sana'a was also visited and learned about the stages of its construction since the entry of Islam to Yemen, which is considered one of the most important architectural landmarks of Islamic architecture in Yemen. Ottoman style in building mosques.

 

 During the visit, the students also got acquainted with the brokers as one of the architectural buildings in the old Islamic architecture, and they got acquainted with the professional lanes in the old markets of Sana’a as an example of the old Islamic city.
