Today, Monday, March 18, 2019, Emirates International University inaugurated a workshop to develop the university’s strategy 2025, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Junaid, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, Minister of Culture, Mr. Abdullah Al-Kabsi, and Ministers of State Hamid Al-Makhzaji , and Radhia Abdullah and a number of deputy ministers and undersecretaries in various ministries, as well as in the presence of a number of heads of relevant bodies and institutions and representatives of the private sector and local community organizations. During his speech at the opening of the workshop, Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor stressed that "the formulation and preparation of strategies acquires its developmental importance by building on previous strategies in the same field to reach new goals that rely on cumulative experience." The Prime Minister referred to the contents of the strategy vision, under discussion, from a historical background related to the previous strategies of the education sector of all kinds, considering that benefiting from cumulative experiences is important for works that seek to link the old and the new and foresee the future. The Prime Minister indicated the country's need for specialized research centers that follow government, private and private universities, focusing their work on specific aspects and within a confined geographical launch to reach scientific results that serve the community. Dr. Bin Habtoor urged university professors to take into account the dialogue aspect with their students and not to be disturbed by the students' comments based on sound information, especially the smart ones, in light of the wide spaces that modern technology provides for acquiring knowledge. He said, "Universities and research centers should raise questions that are not raised by others in various fields, and search for an answer, including about history and its thorny issues that have been distorted and distorted to serve the interests of the forces that dominate the world today." He also stressed that the university professor is required to strive and continuously search for new things, especially in his field of specialization, and to update his information and feed his thought to continue performing his important and rich mission towards his students and the country in general. And he added, "It is important for everyone to be aware that private and private universities are parallel to government universities and an important symbol of steadfastness and an important tributary in serving society and the national economy." At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Bin Habtoor expressed his gratitude for this important scientific step for the university to explore future prospects according to a sound scientific approach. This came when the Prime Minister participated in the opening of the development workshop organized today in Sana'a by the Emirates International University to discuss its strategy for the period 2020-2025 AD, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs Mahmoud Al-Junaid, Minister of Culture Abdullah Al-Kibsi, a number of Yemeni university presidents and a group of professors and academics. For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, indicated in his speech that the university, despite its short life, started with positive steps to develop its capabilities and infrastructure, academic and organizational in accordance with an advanced scientific methodology that relies on the foundations of modern management represented in its five functions: “planning, organization, employment, guidance and control.” Minister Hazeb explained that the university, which depends in its work on strategic planning, will achieve success and excellence in providing its services to students and the community. He noted the role of the university in enhancing its performance and building its capabilities in various aspects through the development of its strategic plan, which extends for the next five years, based on technical and academic consultations and local expertise. The Minister called the owner of public and private universities to take the initiative in reviewing and evaluating their conditions and preparing strategies, plans and programs that would enable them to raise their efficiency and improve their performance. The President of the University, Dr. Najeeb Al-Kumaim, had referred in his speech to the steps of preparing and developing the university’s strategy 2025, within the framework of the university’s keenness to excel in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation. The President of the University stressed that higher education constitutes the core of sustainable development, while strategic planning represents the scientific way available for educational systems to catch up with advanced societies and move education from the stage of traditional systems to modern systems based on rational management and comprehensive quality. Dr. Al-Kumaim indicated that the directions of the leadership of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the relevant authorities in assessing the conditions of private universities gave the university an incentive and moral motive in preparing strategic development plans and enabling it to achieve its goals in academic programs. The university, represented by its president, honored the Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Junaid, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hussein Hazeb, with the shield of the Emirates International University. The workshop was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Walid Al-Ruwaishan, a number of heads of public and private universities, the university leadership, a number of faculty members and their assistants at the university, a presentation on the workshop program and the university’s path in strategic planning, developing its capabilities and future steps. After that, the workshop began, where the first session discussed the development of strategic environmental analysis, the university's internal environment, strengths and weaknesses. The second session dealt with the results of the strategic environmental analysis "the university's external environment, opportunities and threats," while the third session presented the reference data for local, Arab and international universities. The fourth session reviewed the draft vision, mission, values ​​and goals, and the fifth discussed strategic directions and approving their results. At the conclusion of the workshop sessions, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants in the workshop, including academics, researchers, and administrative and technical staff.
