Today, Monday, the Department of Medical Equipment Engineering discussed the graduation projects for the students of the department, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Dr. Khalil Al-Wajeeh. A graduation project entitled "Designing a Portable Dental Unit" was discussed, submitted by the students: Hanan Fouad Al-Adimi, Abbas Mujib Ali Abbas, Muhammad Nabil Al-Hanami, Younis Abdel-Bari Al-Jamra, and supervised by Dr. Awad Al-Qubati. The project is a mini dental unit that can be carried and moved with ease. It can be used anywhere in the countryside, in the city, or in remote areas where dental chairs are not available. It also helps in solving dental problems for physically disabled people, war wounded and elderly people who cannot move. The second project is “Designing a smart pillow to get rid of snoring” presented by the students: Asaad Saeed Al-Qudsi, Suleiman Al-Banna, Ali Saleh Al-Ward, Muhammad Hussain Al-Ezzi and Moaz Mujahid Al-Samawi. And the supervision of Dr. Mushtaq Azazi. The idea of the project is based on identifying the sound of snoring through the sound recognition circuit within the device, then the device inflates the air bag inside the smart pillow through an air pump for thirty seconds, and when the pillow is filled with air, the snoring person’s neck adjusts and the snoring stops, and then the air is automatically emptied from the pad by means of valves. This idea is considered the best to get rid of snoring compared to the other methods used so far. The discussion committee was formed from: Dr. Muhammad Al-Olfi, Dr. Farouk Al-Fahidi and Dr. Mushtaq Al-Azazi, in the presence of Dr. Khalil Al-Wajeeh, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, Head of the Mechatronics Department, and a number of students.
