The Center for Development and Quality Assurance, in cooperation with the Deanship of the College of Engineering and Information Technology at the university, launched this morning, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 AD, a two-day training workshop on practical procedures for qualifying engineering and computer programs to obtain international program accreditation ABET, under the auspices of the President of the University, Dr. Najib Al-Kumaim. The inaugural session was inaugurated in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Sadiq Al-Sharaji, the Director of Private Education Institutions at the Ministry of Higher Education, Professor Fouad Al-Hada, the Vice President of the University, Dr. Ahmed Al-Baadani, a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Hamdan Al-Shami, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, and the acting Dean The Center for Development and Quality Assurance and the facilitator of the workshop, Dr. Sharaf Al-Hamdi. In the opening speech of the workshop, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Dr. Hatem Al-Dais, welcomed the participants from the leaders of the ministry and the university and the faculty of the College of Engineering and the university, including academics, department heads, faculty members, department managers, teaching assistants and technicians from various departments of the college. Thanks and appreciation to the workshop preparation team, who made great efforts to make it a success. The Dean of Engineering indicated that the college is proceeding according to a strategic plan that emerged from the university's 2025 strategy to develop academic aspects and infrastructure in accordance with the highest standards of local and international quality and accreditation and to meet the requirements of the local and regional labor market. In his speech on behalf of the ministry, Dr. Sadiq Al-Sharaji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of the workshop through which the university seeks to obtain ABET international program accreditation, praising the tangible developmental steps taken by the UAE University to improve the quality of its programs and outputs in line with the rapid developments. in the educational field. The expert on leadership and measurement of academic programs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharjabi, reviewed the quality standards of engineering and computer programs according to the International Academic Accreditation Council for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the practical steps for qualifying the college’s programs to meet the requirements of ABET, and the self-evaluation procedures for programs in accordance with these steps and standards to reach the development of an improvement plan aimed at developing the quality of engineering program outputs. and computing. A group of academics, heads of scientific departments, staff of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, teaching assistants, technicians from various departments of the college and a number of directors of relevant departments, departments and units participated in the workshop.
