As part of the university’s keenness to provide a distinguished educational environment for its students and provide them with the skills that qualify them for the labor market, the College of Engineering and Information Technology organized, within the framework of the activities of the scientific week, a specialized scientific symposium for students of the Architectural and Civil Engineering departments on nanotechnology and project quality management, with the aim of providing students of the two departments with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage projects effectively and efficiently, while ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards.

The seminar, presented by Dr. Sahar Mohsen Abdel Rahman Rizk, Associate Professor, Department of Architecture - National Reviewer and Expert in Developing Quality Assurance of Higher Education Programs and Institutions and Evaluation of Learning Outcomes, Faculty of Engineering, Beni Suef University - Arab Republic of Egypt, and Dr. Salam Rafeh Armoush, Expert in the field of smart concrete and nanotechnology in civil engineering, and a researcher interested in self-sensing concrete, self-heating concrete and the health of concrete structures, and Head of the Scientific Affairs Unit at the Faculty of Engineering/University of Anbar - Republic of Iraq, addressed a set of important topics, including: basic concepts in quality management, the importance of quality in projects, quality assurance tools and methods, and case studies of successful projects.

The seminar also addressed the latest developments in the field of nanotechnology and how to benefit from it in developing the infrastructure sector and improving the performance of materials used in engineering projects. It reviewed the latest research and studies in this field and their practical applications in various engineering fields. To enhance awareness of the importance of these technologies among civil engineering students and encourage them to conduct more research and studies in this promising field.

Special focus was placed on "self-heating concrete", a technology that allows concrete to be converted into a source of self-heating. This technology is based on adding conductive or semi-conductive materials to the concrete mixture, where a low-voltage electric current is connected through positive and negative poles to these materials to achieve self-heating of the concrete.

The seminar was moderated by the Head of the Department of Architecture and Interior Design, Dr. Ahmed Yafaa, and the Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amri, and was attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Ibrahim Fareh, Dr. Hani Damaj, Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Eng. Saddam Hussein, Teaching Assistant of the Department of Architecture, Eng. Hanan Dahhan, Teaching Assistant of the Department of Architecture, and the Head of the Training Center, Eng. Fathi Salman.
