The Emirates American University, College of Business, provides students with the fundamental general education and business core requirements that provide a strong disciplined foundation for the concentrations in Accounting, Finance and Banking, Property Development and Investment, Marketing and Risk Management and Insurance.
 
The curriculum fulfills the requirements for general education, core courses in diverse range of business disciplines, and business concentration courses that develop, expand, and strengthen a student’s knowledge in his or her chosen field.
 
The business programs at EAU were developed provide to students with a strong comprehension and understanding in their chosen fields, while presenting them with a comprehensive and detailed overview of the business and its functional areas, organizational behavior and development, and the processes and techniques of decision making. The courses were developed utilizing the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business-International (AACSB-International) guidelines for providing (a) analytical and quantitative proficiency, (b) an understanding of the decision making process in various environments, economic , social, political, and legal, (c) comprehension of accounting principles and IT systems (d) an overview of human resources functions, organization development and behavioral aspects of organizations, (e) ethical issues that face business and issues of global and international importance, and (f) skills in being a leader and working as part of a team through projects and case analysis.

The Accounting program at the College of Business introduces students to all the functional areas of accounting. Students develop an essential competency in each of these areas and complement this knowledge with study in relevant areas of business and economics.  The Accounting program also places a particular emphasis on ensuring that graduates have a clear understanding of the ethical values critical to the accounting profession, as well as an awareness of the social obligations that accompany a career in accountancy.
 
Accounting is the primary “language” of business and accountants assist businesses in determining, analyzing and communicating their financial results to interested parties. As an accounting professional, graduates can expect a diversity of opportunities in both workplace settings and tasks. EAU, College of Business, plans to maintain very close ties with employers to ensure that its program reflects the skills most important to both successful entry into and subsequent development within the profession.  This skill set encompasses written and oral communication skills, the ability to apply technology to accounting, knowledge of business processes and their implications for accounting, and the ability to function cooperatively in teams.
 
Finance and Banking
 
The specialization in finance and banking primes students for a variety of careers in financial institutions, corporations, and banking establishments, offering students an extensive examination of the banking and financial markets; EAU students analyze the processes and techniques required for making managerial decisions in the successful operation of a bank and in financial services. They delve into and understand the role of banks in financial markets and how they affect and are affected by them. Stress is placed on the understanding and utilization of interest rate measurements, control, and risk through asset and liability management. An understanding of the regulations and regulatory changes, and their impact on the banking and financial sectors is also analyzed.

The specialization stresses and develops the student understanding of financial principles for both banking and financial industries.

Given how real estate affects major financial markets and economic development, the study of property development and investment will also instill in the student an understanding of the financial aspects of the real estate investment and development market. Students will learn to collaborate with marketing specialists from many different areas, such as account executives, researchers, event planners, product developers, branding experts, sales teams and vendors — and how to attract and retain clients or customers. The Risk Management/ Insurance degree program is designed to meet the academic needs of the professional insurance and risk management practitioner. The objective of the curriculum in risk and insurance is to acquaint the student with the effects of risk and uncertainty upon business and society. The analysis of risk and the methods of meeting risk are placed in proper perspective as parts of a broad business management curriculum.

Tourism and Hospitality
 
The program purpose is preparing student with the expertise, commitment and skills for management, marketing and operations positions in the expanding industry that provides food, accommodations and tourism services to people away from home.

These includes tourism, event and conference management, sporting events and festivals, hotels and resorts, restaurants, logistics, catering and banquet management, convention centres, event and conference management and wholesale and retail management.
